Invermereから北へ１時間車を走らせ、バンフ国立公園内にあるLake Louiseに行きました。この湖には氷河が溶けた水が流れ込むため、水がエメラルド色です。ルイーズ湖という名前はイギリスのビクトリア女王の娘、プリンセスルイーズから付けられました。カナダ太平洋鉄道が19世紀終わりにこの湖の近くに建設され、Chateau Lake Louiseが20世紀初頭に湖に隣接されました。設立当時からChateau Lake Louiseは新婚旅行の名所となりました。ホテルは1924年に大火事に遭い、現在のホテルが建設されました。
We drove to the north for about one hour and visited Lake Louise in Banff National Park. Since melted water of glaciers comes into this lake, the water is emerald colour. Lake Louise is named after Princess Louise who was a daughter of Queen Victoria in Britain. Canada Pacific Railway built a rail near this lake at the end of the 19th century and Chateau Lake Louise was built next to the lake at the beginning of the 20th century. From the beginning of this establishment, Chateau Lake Louise has been noted for the place to go for honeymoon. The hotel was burnt down in 1924 and this current hotel was built.

母とはBC州の最も東にあるInvermereに行きました。VancouverからInvermereまでは約830キロ。車で約12時間かかります。Invermereはロッキー山脈の麓にあります。地図の右上緑の部分がロッキー山脈です。下の衛星写真でみると岩山（ロッキー）であることが分かりますね。
My mother and I went to Invermere which is located at the very east of British Columbia. It’s about 830 km from Vancouver to Invermere. It takes about 12 hours by car. Invermere is at the bottom of Rocky mountains. They are marked in green at the top right in the map. You can see they are quite rocky in the satelite photo below.
行く途中で虹を何度も見ました。
We saw rainbows so many times on the way.

Invermereで毎日欠かさずしたとこがあります。ラジウム温泉に行ったことでした。ここには日本の温泉なみに熱いジャグジーもあったので最高でした。この温泉のサイトによると、この温泉は昔々インディアンの人達が使っていたそうですが、発見されたのは1841年と記録されています。
There was one thing that I did everyday in Invermere. It was to go to the Radium Hot Spring. It was great that they have a very hot jacuzzi like Japanese hot springs. According to the hot spring’s site, This hot spring was used to be used by Indians long long time ago, but recorded that the hot spring was found in 1841.

先週の土曜日はワールドカップ、イングランドーポルトガル戦を観に行ってきました。試合はこちらの現地時間で午前７時半からでしたが、試合を見せてくれるパブが結構ありました。私達はバンクーバー図書館下のLibrary Square Public Houseに午前７時に行きましたが、既に行列が出来ていました。パブ開店時間には、入れなかった人がたくさんいたようです。パブに入って、イングランドの応援歌を歌い、興奮して観ましたが、結果はPK戦で負けてしまいましたね。ロナウドがゴールした時、パブは墓場のように静まり返っていました(T0T)。
今日はフランスーポルトガル戦を昼休みに観ました。フランスが勝ってとっても嬉しかったです。決勝戦、イタリアーフランス戦が楽しみです。
余談ですが、パブには俳優のAlessandro Julianiが来ていました。Battlestar GalacticaでLt. Gaeta役で出ていますね（サイロンか？っていう噂もありますが）。一緒に写真撮って貰おうと思ってたのに、マイデジカメバッテリー切れ。泣。一番下の写真の一番左の男性ですよ。
We went to watch the World Cup match, England VS Portugal on the last Sarturday. Although the match began at half past seven in the moring at our local time there were many pubs showing the match. We went to the Library Square public House at the Vancouver Library, but there was already a line up when we got there at 7 am. When the pub opened lots of people could not get in. We went into the pub and we sang songs for the England team and watched the match excitedly, but the England lost in the penalty kick. When Ronaldo scored the pub was as silent as a grave (T0T).
Today I went to see the France - Portugal match during lunch time. I was very pleased France won. I am looking forward to the final Italy - France match.
Incidentally, I may add that an actor, Alessandro Juliani was in the pub. He appears as Lt. Gaeta in Battlestar Galactica (there’s a rumor that he is a cylon). I wanted to take a picture with him but my camera ran out the battery. DOH! He stands at far left in the last photo

バンクーバーのクリティカルマスに行ってきました。集合場所のバンクーバー美術館に到着した時はもう既にたくさんのサイクリスト達がいました。約3,600人以上のサイクリストがこのイベントに参加したそうです。
We went to the Critical Mass in Vancouver. When I arrived at the assembly place, the Vancouver Art Gallery, there were already lots of cyclists. Apparently over 3,600 cyclists participated this event.
バンクーバー美術館を出発しました。Corkers（コルクする人達）↑が車の前に立ち、サイクリスト達に道を確保します。Corkers ありがとう！
We left the Vancouver art gallery. Corkers↑ stood in front of cars and secured roads for cyclists. Thanks Corkers!
いつも車が占領している道の真ん中を自転車で通るのは楽しかったです。
It was fun to cycle in the middle of the roads which normally occupied by cars.

６月は自転車に乗ろう月間です。今年は結構新しい自転車道が出来たように思います。バンクーバーの自転車道はこちら。

私達はバンクーバー図書館前でクリティカルマスを去りました。この後 クリティカルマスはライオンズゲイトブリッジまで続いたそうです。また来年もこのイベントに参加したいと思います。あ〜、面白かった。
We left the Critical Mass in front of the Vancouver library. After this, the mass cycled to the Lions Gate Bridge. I would love to join this even again next year. It was so much fun.
