Good things in Vancouver

妹推薦のこのクレープ屋さんに朝ごはんを食べに行きました。コーヒーまたは紅茶付の朝ごはんスペシャル（＄６．９５）とフレンチオニオンスープを頼みました。上の写真は妹が頼んだもので、クレープの中に煮りんご、スイスチーズが入っていて、スパイシーなソーセージが付いてきます。どれもトレ・ビアンでした。フランス人のシェフは、バンクーバーのフランス料理の老舗Le Gavrocheのシェフもやっていただけあって、全ての素材が完璧に調理されていました。サービスもとても良かったです。お店には Francophones（フランコフォンズ: フランス語を話す人達）がたくさんいて、フランスにいるような気分でした。

We went for breakfast to this crepe restaurant which is highly recommended by my sister.  We had a French onion soup and a breakfast speacial which comes with tea or coffee ($6.95).  The above photo is my sister’s order.  It had stewed apples and swiss cheese inside the crepe and spicy sausages on top.  Everything was tre bien!  The French chef once worked for an old French restaurant in Vancouver called Le Gavroche; so all the ingredients were cooked perfectly. Their service was good too. There were many francophones in the restaurant, which made me feel as if I were in France.

あまり期待しないでこの映画を借りて、めちゃ笑いました。主人公Chris↑を演じるRyan Reynoldsは、高校時代に今まで好きだったJamie↑に告白する。でも彼女から友達として大好きよと返答される。その街を離れ、メジャーな音楽レーベルに勤め、ハンサムなプレイボーイに変身した。ひょんなことから、その街に戻り、Jamieに再会する。「Just Friends」の関係で終わらせないために、Chrisは色んな作戦を立てるが、そこには数々の困難が待っていた。Ryan ReynoldsのSteve Martinを思わせる身体を張ったコテコテギャグが素晴らしかった。映画の最後のクレジットスクロールのところでRyan ReynoldsがBoyz II Manの I Swearを歌真似するのは見物です。映画の中で歌真似したものは、こちらで少し見れます。Ryan Reynoldsはバンクーバー出身と知ってなんだか嬉しい。彼は歌手のAlanis Morissette↓と最近婚約した。これからの活躍を期待したいです。

We rented this film not expecting much of it, and we laughed so much. Ryan Reynolds who acts the main role, Chris↑, declared his love for a girl called Jamie↑ in high school. But she said she loved him as a friend. He left the hometown to work for a major music label and he changed himself to become a handsome playboy. One day he happened to return to his hometown by a strange chance and met the girl, Jamie. To be NOT “just friends” with her, Chris planned strategies but there were many difficulties waiting for him. Ryan Raynold’s cheesy physical gags like Steve Martin was wonderful. It’s worth watching his lip synch of Boyz II Man’s “I swear” at the final credits. You can see here a little bit of the lip synch which he did during the film. I am pleased to hear Ryan Reynolds is from Vancouver. He recently got engaged with a singer, Alanis Morissette↓. I am looking forward to his future activity.

Viggo Mortensen主演のA Histoty of Violenceを見た。ある男(Viggo Mortensen)が身元を変えて小さな町で幸せな暮らしを家族と暮らしていた。ある日そこに昔、属していた暴力団の仲間が彼と彼の家族を脅かしにやってくる。おのおのの役柄の背景があまり説明されず、内容が非現実的だと思った。IMDBでは7.8を得ているけど、私は4をあげます。

We watched A History of Violence which Viggo Mortensen was in as the main character. One man (Viggo Mortensen) who changed his identity was having a happy life with his family in a small town. One day, gangstars who he worked with before come to the town to threaten him and his family. Each character had a shallow background and the story sounded unrealistic. Their rating is 7.8 in IMDB but I will give 4.

昨日、スタンレー公園に行って写真を撮りました。
I went to Stanley park yesterday and took some pictures.

Hot Hot Heatのコンサートに行ってきました。チケットは売れ切れだったそうだけど、コンサートの感想は「疲れた」。だって火曜日なのに、午前１２時から開始(T0T)。普通だったら寝てますよ！かわいいギャル達も最終バスに乗らないといけないのか、渋々午前１２時半に帰ってました。かわいそうに。試聴はこちら。

キーボード＆VocalのSteve BaysはThe KillersのBrandon Flowersみたいでした。お姉ちゃん達もきゃーきゃー言ってました。歌は上手でした。この晩Hot Hot Heatが始まるまでエンターテインしてくれたのが、このムキムキ男子３人↓。全く同じ服を来て、スキンシップも過激に色んな女性をナンパしてました。こんな風にナンパする事、英語でSharkingって言うそうです。ほんとに彼ら、ジョーズのサメみたいでした。

We went to see Hot Hot Heat. The tickets were sold out but my impression of the concert was “tiring”. The concert was on Tuesday and it started at midninght. I am normally asleep by then! Some pretty girls had to leave the venue as well, maybe because they had to catch the last bus or something. Poor girls. You can try Hot Hot Heat music here.

Steve Bays who does Keyboad & vocal looked like Brandon Flowers from the Killers. Lots of girls were screaming at him. His singing was good. Until the time Hot Hot Heat was on the stage, these three macho guys↓ were entertaining us. They were all wearing the same clothes and chatting up lots of girls with aggressive skinship. I learnt you say “sharking” when you chat up somebody like this. They were really like the sharks in the Jaws.

Watch out for the sharking brothers!

会社に行く途中に、ポスターがたくさん貼ってあるこの場所を通るのが好きです。
On the way to my office, I like passing this place with lots of posters on the wall.

今朝は新しいポスターが貼ってあるのを発見しました。よく見ると。。。
I found the new poster pasted on the wall this morning. I looked at it closer…

赤ちゃんが笑っているポスターでした。平和な気分になりました。でも、何のためのポスターなんだろ。
It was the poster of a baby smiling. I felt peaceful but I wonder what this poster is for.
