Good things in Vancouver

友達と一緒にパブクロール(パブを何軒もはしごすること)に出かけました。。。また！？ 集合場所はガスタウンにあるSteamworks。このパブの地ビールはおいしい。友達は地ビールお試しセットを注文。

We went to pub crawl with friends…again!? We gathered at Steamworks in Gastown. Their own beer is very good. Our friend ordered a sampler.

みんな夏のような天気を楽しんでいました。私達もちょっと水遊びをして、The Millでビールを飲みました。

Everybody was enjoying the summery weather. We played with water a little bit, and had beer at the Mill.

それからWestin Bayshore HotelにあるThe Seawall Bar & Grillへ。ホテルではLEO Awards(BC州のインディペンデントテレビ賞）の式典が行われていて、バンクーバーのテレビキャスターがセレブっぽい人たちをインタビューをしていた。知らない人達ばっかりだったけど、このお兄さんはナイススマイルをしてくれた。。。で、あなた誰ですの？

Then we went to the Seawall Bar & Grill at the Westin Bayshore Hotel. There was a reception for the LEO Awards (that’s BC’s Independent TV awards) and Vancouver’s TV casters were interviewing celebrity look like people. I didn’t know anybody but this dude gave me a nice smile… but who are you?

最後のパブは我が家。楽しい時間はあっという間にすぎて、午前０時。１１時間も飲んでしまいました。昼から飲めば夕方頃終わって、日曜日は二日酔いなしと想定していましたが、私達の想定は全くの間違いでした。

The last pub was our house. Fun time passed so quickly and the time was 12 AM. We ended up drinking for 11 hours. We thought drinking from the noon and finish in the late afternoon would give us no hangovers on Sunday, but we were totally wrong about that.

最近よく聞いているBloc Partyはイギリスのバンド。ジャンルはFranz Ferdinandのようなネオ・レトロ（？）系。日本では５月の初旬に東京でライブがあったが、バンクーバーには５月２９日に来る。行きたいな。試聴はこちらで。

Bloc Party, which we listen to a lot recently, is a band from Britain. Its genre is kind of neo retro (?) like Franz Ferdinand. They played in Tokyo, Japan at the beginning of May and they are coming to Vancouver on May 29th. I would like to go to the live. You can listen to their music here.
昨日はrenomotoさんのお誕生日パーティにtoonieはんと行った(toonieはんは高校の同窓生。toonieはんとのバンクーバーでの劇的な出会いについてはこちらへ）。パーティはジャマイカン＆ジャパニーズのレストランで行われ、ジャズバンドが”Girl from Ipanema”とかお洒落な曲を演奏していた。たくさんのお友達に囲まれてケーキのろうそくを消したrenomotoさんはとても幸せそうだった。Toonieはん（＋お腹にいるloonieちゃん）とトン太はんにも再会できたのも嬉しかった♪

We went to renomoto-san’s birthday party last night with Toonie (Toonie is from my high school. Check here for details of our dramatic meeting in Vancouver). The party was held at Jamaican & Japanese restaurant and a jazz band was playing cool songs like “Girl from Ipanema”. Renomoto-san looked very happy when she brew candles of a birthday cake being surrounded and cheered by her many friends. I was also happy to see Toonie (and Loonie in her tummy) and Tonta-san again.

ところで、最新のトラックバックに「ウマ」とあったので、どこにトラックバックされてるのかと思えば、「リス」の記事だった。これウマちゃうゆーねん！

By the way, I saw one of my articles was trackbacked by an article titled “Horse”. I checked which article of mine was trackbacked and found it was my “Squirrel” arcticle. It’s not a horse, man!

郵便受けを見ると桜子さんから封筒が届いていた。
桜子さんのブログ訪問者１万人おめでとう！のお祝いをしたら、そのお返しにプレゼントを送って下さった。
興奮しながら封筒を開けると、桜子さんからの心暖まるメッセージ。
中にはかわいい柄で肌触りの良いハンカチが入っていた！
こっちでハンカチは日本のように売っていないので、とっても嬉しい。
桜子さん、ありがとう！

I found an envelope from Sakurako-san when I opened our mail box. Sakurako-san gave me a present for my congratulations to her blog when it hit 10,000th visitor. I opened the envelope with excitement and found a heart warming message from Sakurako-san. There was a soft handkerchief with cool pattern inside the envelope!

父が連れて行ってくれた第一作目から映画館で見てきた（第一作目の日本公開は１９７８年）。最初に見た時は字幕を読めなかったが、初めて宇宙の世界を見て興奮し、感動した。大好きな映画である。

最後の作品、エピソード３を観て思ったのは、エピソード３は子供向けに作られていない。政治の話とか、グロテスクな映像など出てきて、映画館に来ていたちびっ子達はどう思ったのだろうか。大好きなキャラクターC-3POの出番が少なかったのも残念だった。

２００６年にテレビシリーズが始まるみたいだけど、あまり期待しないでおこう。

I have watched all the episodes at cinemas since my father took me to the first one (which was released in 1978 in Japan). I was too small to read the subtitles but I was so excited and astonished to see the world of the universe for the first time. It’s my favourite film.

What I thought watching the last film, the episode 3 was this film was not produced for children. I wonder what the kids at the cinema thought about stories of politics and grotesque scenes. I was also disappointed my favourite character C-3PO didn’t appear much.

TV series of Star Wars will be released in 2006 but I shouldn’t expect too much.

金曜日の昼は同僚と一緒に「栄」に行く。以前は大抵ミニちらし＆うどんセットを頼んでいた。最近はスペシャルランチボックス（$12.95, 約1000円）を注文する。栄はこのスペシャルランチボックスを数週間前から始めた。何種類もの料理がひとつひとつ丁寧に作られている。

I go to Sakae every Friday for lunch with my colleagues. I used to order a set of mini Chirashi (varieties of sashimi on sushi rice) and mini Udon (noodle in soup)　quite often. These days I order this Special lunch box ($12.95). Sakae started this lunch box a few weeks ago. There are so many kinds of food and each kind is prepared thoroughly in details.

母上の隣の畑に自分たちの畑を借りることになった。いっぱい植えすぎた感じ。。。収穫が楽しみ！

We now rent an allotment next to my mother’s. We think we planted too much. We are looking forward to harvest our crop.
