Good things in Vancouver

ハ二−のクッキング週間がやって参りました♪私が２週間作って、ハ二−が１週間作る事にしました。

My honey’s cooking week has returned♪ We decided I cook for 2 weeks and my honey cooks for 1 week.

昨日はチキン・キエフ、ベイクド・ビーンズ（玉ねぎ入りのベイクド・ビーンズは初めて食べた、ウマかった！）、ロースト・新じゃがポテトでした。チキン・キエフは中にガーリックバターやパセリなど入っています。これはお肉屋さんから買ってきたんだけど、冷凍のやつよりおいしかった。

Last night was Chicken Kiev, Baked beans (first time to eat baked beans with onions but it was deliccio!) and roasted new potatoes. Chicken Kiev has garlic butter and parsley　inside. He bought them from a butcher and they were much better than frozen ones.

今日はチキン・ビンダルー。ビンダルーはかなり辛いカレーです。イギリス人の男子はこのビンダルーを全然辛ないで！っちゅう顔をして食べるのが男らしいと思っているようです。＜ただのあほやと思うんですけど。。。

Tonight was Chicken Vindaloo. Vindaloo is pretty hot curry. British males think it’s very macho thing to eat Vindaloo as if nothing is hot. ＜That’s just silly.　

デザートは私が昨晩作った、マンゴゼリー。マンゴの缶詰はチャイニーズスーパーマーケットとかで、＄１（８０円）で売ってるのよ！ハ二−が缶詰マンゴ大好きなので、よく買ってます。経済的な奴っちゃ！

明日の晩御飯は何だろなー。

Dessert was mango jelly which I made last night. You can find canned mangos in Chinese supermarkets for $1 (80 yen)! My honey loves canned mangos, so I often buy them. Very economical dude!

そして２本目はHostageを映画館で見た。主演のBruce Willisはアクションヒーロー役がキマッてた。ＮＨＫで放送してた「こちらブルームーン探偵社」の時から変わってないねー。んまぁ、あれって２０年前のＴＶ番組やったんや! びびります。

この映画にはDemi Mooreとの間に出来た実娘Rumer Willis もBruceの娘役で出てた。話の筋がちょっと予測できちゃったけど、結構スリルがあって怖かった。

Then we watched the second film, “Hostage”, in a theater. The main actor, Bruce Willis was wicked as an action hero. He hasn’t changed much since “Moonlighting” which NHK (Japanese version of BBC or CBC) was broadcasting. Gosh, that was 20 years ago! It scares me!

His actual daughter with Demi Moore, Rumer Willis is in this film as his daughter. The plot was bit predictable but it was quite thrilling and scary.

この週末、映画を２本観た。１本はＤＶＤで「Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason」。2001年に公開された「Bridget Jones’s Diary」 の続編。率直に言って、前作に比べて、面白くなかった。ありえんやろーっ!ていう結末でした。ハンサムなColin Firthを見れるのはグッドでした。この映画の中でブリジットが住んでいた街は私達が住んでいたBorough（バラァと読みます）だと説明された時、私達は「あれ、Borough やって！」 とハイになっていました。

We watched 2 films this weekend. One was a DVD, “Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason”. This is the second series of “Bridge Jones’s Diary” which was released in 2001. Frankly speaking, it wasn’t good as the first one. The ending was like “This cannot happen in real life!” It was good to see handsome Colin Firth though. When this film explained that the town where Bridget lived was Borough, which is where we used to live, we got high saying “That’s the Borough!”.

「Front and Company」のショーウィンドウの写真を撮った。そのお店では男女用の古着、アクセサリー、ギフト、バッグ等を売っている。ここはアクセサリーが良い。妹は夏らしい貝のイヤリングとお揃いのブレスレットを購入。

I took a picture of the show window of “Front and company”. The shop sells consigment clothes for men and women, accessories, gifts, and bags. The accessories are good here. My sister bought a pair of shell earrings and a matched bracelet which looked very summery.

このお店では自分の古着を売ることが出き、売値の４０％が取り分になる。

The shop can sell your own old clothes and 40% of the sales price will be yours.

このお店はいつも素敵なショーウィンドウで、今回は何種類ものウェディング・ケーキがとってもかわいい。全部紙で出来てるし。ケーキの周りに蜂が飛び回ってるのが見える？この写真を撮った後、写真を撮るなと言われた。アーティストの権利とかかなってハニーは言ってたけど、次回も撮っちゃうべき？

The shop always has nice show windows and this time, the many kinds of wedding cakes were really pretty. Everything is made out of paper. Can you see the bees flying around the cakes? After I took a picture I was told NOT to take pictures. My honey said maybe it was due to artists’ right or something, but should I take another picture next time?

イースター休暇（４連休！）の前夜にパブ・クロールしようと先週決めた。ウィキペディアによると、パブ・クロールとはグループで一夜のうちにパブを何軒もはしごすることとある。パブの国、イギリスでは「ロンドン地下鉄パブ・クロール」というのがある。地下鉄環状線の各駅で、駅から一番近いパブで飲む。２０駅あれば、２０杯飲むことになる。日本に帰ったら、大阪の環状線でやってみないと♪

Last week, we decided to do a pub crawl on the night before the Easter holiday (4 days off!). According to Wikipedia, pub crawl is the act of visiting and drinking alcohol at a number of pubs in a single night with a group of friends. In the pub country, Britain, there’s “the London underground pub crawl”. You drink at a pub closest to each of the stops on the Circle Line. If you have 20 stops you will drink 20 pints. When I go back to Japan, I should try this with the Circle line in Osaka♪

私達５人はLennox pubに６時に集合し、初めの１杯をスタート。２杯目はRaileway Clubで。なかなか居心地の良い、雰囲気の良いパブだった。ご飯を食べにGastownの私のお気に入りにパブ、Steamworksに行った。ここでは地ビールがあって、ご飯も結構ウマい。おいしいビールとハンバーガーを食べた後、ダウンタウンにまた戻る。５ピンボーリングが出来るCommodore Lane、Commodore roomの下に行く。ちょっと覗いて出た。

5 of us gathered at the Lennox pub at 6 and started our first pint. Next pint was at the Railway Club. It’s a very cozy pub and had nice atmosphere. We needed to eat and we headed to the Steamworks, my favorite pub in Gastown. They make their own beer and food is pretty decent. After filling ourselves with delicious beer and burger, we headed back to down town again. We went to the Commodore Lane, downstairs of the Commodore room, where you can play 5 pin bowling. We had a look around and left.

Granville Streetは人が一杯で、かわい子ちゃんはインタビューされてた。アイリッシュパブ、Doolinsに行くがめちゃ混み。そこを出て、Speakeasyに入る。ティーンエイジャーっぽい子達で賑わってる、ビールはあんまりおいしくなかった。次はまたアイリッシュパブのMorrissey。このパブは同年代の人達でいっぱいだった。テーブルをどうにか見つけ、飲み続ける。最後のパブはInferno Bar and Grillで、まぁまぁ。最後の１杯を飲み終えたころは午前１時だった。チドリ〜足で家に帰る。結局、パブ６軒はしごした。何杯飲んだかは謎！

Granville street was filled with lots of people and pretty ones were being interviewed. We went into an Irish pub, Doolins but it was packed. We left the pub and went into the Speakeasy. Lots of teenager-looking people were there and beer wasn’t so good. Next pub was another Irish pub, the Morrissey. This pub was packed with people like our age. We managed to find a table and continued drinking. The last pub was the Inferno Bar and Grill, which was an okay pub. By the time we finished our last pints, the time was 1 am. We went home at a crawl. In the end, we went to 6 pubs. How many we drank is a mystery.

翌朝、私は大丈夫だった（なんちゅー肝臓や）けど、ハニ−は顔色灰色になってた。彼は今日は全然身動きしてなかったよ。食料を買いに一人で外に出るとDenman Streetに新しい店がオープンしてる。なんと、ワンコちゃん用のデリ（デリカッテッセン：惣菜屋っていうのかな？）だった。新鮮なワンコちゃんフードを売ってるらしい。わぉ。

I was okay next morning (what a great liver I have) but my honey was looking grey. He didn’t move much today. I went outside to do grocery shopping and found a new shop was open on Denman Street. It’s a deli for doggies. They sell nice fresh dog food. Wow.
